SUNDAY’S fixtures featured a mix of league and Worcester Cup action, with six Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination teams due to take part in the latter competition this year.
In the league, Headless Cross Lions continued their unbeaten start to make it three wins out of three with a 5-0 success against Redditch Town.
Lions moved into second place thanks to goals from Ant McNally (2), Ellis Kalach, Joe Frampton and Jordan Street.
VKL United bagged their first victory of the season as they defeated Frankley United 5-1 through goals from Tom Hill (2), Mal Williams, Sam Osmond and Ollie Pledger. Frankley’s scorer was Callum Bissett.
Wythall Lions recorded their second win of the season as they saw off AFC Windmill 3-2.
Goals from Ciaran Hughes (2) and Luke Armstrong secured maximum points for the visitors as Lions made it two wins from two having lost their opening two fixtures. Andy Seager was on the mark for Windmill.
Studley Lions got back on track with a 3-1 win against Redditch United Cross thanks to strikes from Dane Morgan, Richard Tyler and Cuan Partridge. Richard Lane netted for Cross.
In the Worcester Cup, AFC Thomas Brothers advanced to the next round after beating Worcester Athletic 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in which Sean Parish and Callum Davies scored for the Combination side.
SSS Lions recovered from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Callow End thanks to goals from Nick Briggs and Brendan Hicks, but Lions were beaten 5-4 on penalties.
South Redditch were beaten 9-0 at Offenham Rovers. The remaining games were postponed due to players and/or coaches testing positive for Covid-19.
