Warriors reveal a plan for potential season ticket refunds

WARRIORS chiefs have revealed a number of options for season ticket holders in the event efforts to restart the Gallagher Premiership season hit the buffers.

Despite further talks between representatives of English rugby’s top flight last week, there is as yet no agreement on when or if the campaign resumes.

Options to play games behind closed doors are among those considered alongside plans to hold games at a select number of top flight grounds. Warriors’ Sixways stadium, situated just off the M5, could be among the venues to be considered.

In a statement, Chris Booy, chairman of the Professional Game Board, said: “A meeting of the Professional Game Board was held which incorporates representatives of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), Premiership Rugby, Rugby Players Association (RPA) and Championship clubs.

“The group agreed, although a huge amount of work is being undertaken to enable a safe return to training for Premiership clubs, more time was needed to ensure players, staff and officials can return to a safe training environment. This is not expected to be in place for a minimum of two weeks.

“Safety and welfare remains of paramount importance to all of us in the rugby community and we look forward to the season resuming when it is safe to do so. Further updates on progress will be made in due course.”

In the event the four remaining home games in the 2019/20 season are cancelled or ordered to be played behind closed doors, Warriors will provide supporters with three options to ensure they are not out of pocket.

Supporters will have the option to donate their refund amount to support the club going forward and help Warriors through a challenging period when their revenue streams have been badly affected by the Coronavirus lockdown.

Alternatively, supporters will be able to put their rebate ‘on account’ and use the sum to purchase tickets or buy food, drink and merchandise when Sixways re-opens.

A final option will see supporters entitled to a refund based on the remaining 2019-20 fixtures they are unable to attend. The policy will only be applicable to matches which are cancelled or played behind closed doors.
