<b>TENNIS: </b>CAPTAIN Sally Franks described this week’s promotion-clinching exploits of the Ladies B and C sides as the ‘icing on the cake’ for Bromsgrove Tennis Club.
The Ladies C Team rounded off an unbeaten season with a maximum 6-0 win over Manor Park to become Herefordshire and Worcestershire League Division Six East champions.
The squad of Marie Hackett with Di Wilson, Steph Armstrong with Anne Simper and Connie Wedelich with Lisa Rushton were too strong for the opposition as they finished 90 points clear of the runners up spot.
Also on Wednesday, the Ladies B team clinched the Division Three title without playing. Having played all their matches the only team that could overtake them, Barnt Green A, failed to get the points they needed against Old Hill.
Ladies skipper Franks said: “We knew both teams were guaranteed promotion but for them to both end up taking their division titles is the icing on the cake.
“They’ve both carried forward the winning habit from successful winter campaigns to the summer and delivered some impressive performances.
“With our E team just needing a draw in their final match to get promotion as well, it’s been another great season and I would like to thank the captains and players for all their support and effort.”
Meanwhile, on Saturday. the Mixed A team ran out comfortable 4-0 winners against Evesham A to keep them in the promotion race as the season draws to a close.
