Unlucky 13 for Bromsgrove Raiders who crash to heavy defeat to Bromsgrove Academicals

IT WAS a case of unlucky 13 for Bromsgrove Raiders who were trounced by Bromsgrove Academicals in Group A of the Presidents Cup.

It was only 4-0 to Academicals at half-time but Raiders imploded after the break when Greg Anthony was sent off after picking up two yellow cards for dissent in the space of a minute.

Adam Pillinger, Jake Exley and Martin Bonnar all bagged hat-tricks while Damian Blakeway (2), Rob Hurlbutt and James Browning completed the scoring.

Rory Milbourne struck three times for Sporting Grapevine who booked their place in the second round of the WA Harris Cup with an 8-2 victory away at Chaddesley Pensioners.

Jamie Carr, Will Doolan, Richard Lynch, James Gasson and Richard Hall were also on target for Grapevine.

In the Bromsgrove Charity Junior Cup, Wychbold RBL had to forfeit their clash against Offenham Rovers which left two other Minor Cup quarter-final ties to survive the weather.

Rubery Legends slumped to a 5-1 defeat to Redditch & South Warwickshire League outfit Broughsons while Arrow Valley booked their spot in the last four with a comfortable 6-1 success at Evesham side Dragons FC.

Jay Russell’s brace was supported by strikes from Garry Harvey, Nick Rumbold, James Priddle and Dan Montgomery.

Elsewhere, in the sole Bromsgrove League Division Four game, Catshill eased past Stoke Prior 4-1 with all goals coming in the second half.

Nathan Poole, Mark Burrell, Joseph Brookes and Daniel Wilkes netted for Catshill.
