Tuesday night's meeting with Barwell OFF

TUESDAY night’s Southern League Premier Central clash between Bromsgrove Sporting and Barwell has been postponed, ahead of Thursday’s second national lockdown.

Sporting were set to return to the Victoria Ground in midweek hoping to arrest a downturn in form that has seen Brendan Kelly’s men lose four successive matches in all competitions – the latest being Saturday’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Coleshill Town in FA Trophy qualifying.

But the Rouslers will now be denied the chance to get back to winning ways at the first opportunity, due to visitors Barwell not wishing to travel so soon to Thursday’s tightened restrictions, with doubts still lingering over the remaining fixtures in November.

Refunds on tickets already purchased online for the match will be issued by midnight tonight, and are expected to be completed by the weekend at the very latest.

Non-league clubs are still in limbo in the wake of the announcement of a second lockdown in England between Thursday, November 5 and Wednesday, December 2, with all 92 clubs in the Football League to continue playing.

Where the cut-off point for ‘Elite level’ sport remains to be seen, as Step Seven side Bromsgrove await further guidance on their forthcoming fixtures.

Should 18th-placed Sporting get the go-ahead to continue playing, their next fixture will be Saturday’s trip to strugglers Nuneaton Borough in a 3pm kick-off at Liberty Way.
