BROMSGROVE Men’s E look to have all-but secured the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Division Nine following their 4-2 win over rivals Worcester G.
A blend of experience and youth combined to take a close match.
At the halfway stage Bromsgrove were 2-1 down with only Josh Baldwick and junior Isaac Bridge winning.
However, the turnaround brought renewed fight as Bromsgrove won all three rubbers.
Baldwick and Bridge beat the Worcester first pair in two sets.
Ethan Oakes with another junior Cameron Owen also won in two sets.
This set the scene for the opposing captains to battle out a tense three-set contest which lasted late into the night.
Eventually captain Rob Kindon with Paul Douglas took a hard-fought tie break to give Bromsgrove the match victory.
This leaves Bromsgrove 26 points clear of their nearest challengers and barring any freak results they should be crowned champions.
Another great win for the Ladies A team consolidated second place in Division One.
The 5-1 victory over fourth-placed Pershore A opens up a big gap between Bromsgrove and the teams below them.
It was a clean sweep for the pairs of Rachael Mack with Imogen Sinclair and Sally Franks with Tina Manning who won both their rubbers.
It was almost a full house but the third pair of Ann Banner with Katherine Smedley lost a tight three-set battle to the Pershore second pair before convincingly beating their opposite third pair.
The Mixed D team pulled off a deserved 3-1 win over Pershore B in Division Five East.
Captain Annabel Whitmore playing with Pete Morris had two good wins.
The new pairing of Sarah Davies with Oakes showed a lot of promise.
A good win was accompanied by a tense three-set battle decided on a tie break which unfortunately went Pershore’s way.
Elsewhere, the Ladies C team lost 4-2 to Bewdley B but the points won should secure their place in Division Four East next year.
