Three main sponsors considering 'their future involvement' with Bromsgrove Sporting

THE THREE main sponsors at Bromsgrove Sporting are to consider ‘their future involvement’ with the club after hearing of first-team manager Paul Smith’s intent of resigning at the end of the season.

After a meeting this morning (Wednesday), Elliot Nash Limited, Champion Securities Limited and Bumble Hole Foods released a statement revealing they had intended to purchase shares in Sporting but will host another meeting to reconsider their position.

The three sponsors say they wrote to club president Jeff Rea on Monday to raise concerns over the recent issues, mainly surrounding the position of Smith, which had put the club ‘in a bad light’.

The statement released on behalf of the three sponsors added: “The group only got involved in the club through Paul’s activities in the local and wider community.

“This coupled with huge success on the field of play made our combined investment of over £25,000 in the club as money well spent.

“We wrote to the club on Monday to demonstrate or support and confidence in Paul, but to date with no response.

“We all fail to understand how this position can occur between one of the most successful managers in non-league football and the current board.

“This lack of communication between the club, manager and stakeholders seems to mirror our association with the board and this coupled with activities at the last AGM must make us consider our future involvement in ‘our’ local team.”

Elliot Nash Limited has been associated with Sporting since Smith became manager at the club some four years ago.

They had sponsored tracksuits, FA Vase tickets and this year’s away kits as well as supporting the club with facilities for large matches.

Bumble Hole Foods managing director Andrew Hewston has followed the club’s fortunes over the years and became involved last year with sponsoring matches and is part of the shirt sponsorship for 2017/18.

Champion Securities Limited have provided CCTV to the club to aid stewarding at matches and are this season’s main shirt sponsors.

Managing director Dorian Dentith fell in love with the atmosphere at the Victoria Ground and has worked with Smith, Elliott Nash and Hewston to raise the profile of the club through social media.

Chairman Mike Burke said: “I have always had a good relationship with the sponsors.

“I speak to them on a regular basis and always make myself available if they have any problems they want to talk about.

“No sponsors have approached me about any recent issues but if they did I would have been happy to speak to them.

“Hopefully the sponsors will have a chat with me once all the official meetings are over.

“We hope to improve the current situation and move forward and win the league.”
