THOMAS Brothers claimed the first piece of Bromsgrove and District League silverware over the weekend as they defeated Northfield Athletic on penalties to lift the Charity Shield.

After 90 minutes of football, the scores were locked at 3-3 with Paul Whitehead (2) and Stuart Hall netting for Brothers while Jon Myrie, Reece Ward and Scott Taylor got on the scoresheet for Athletic.

However, it was Brothers who came out on top as they won 4-3 on penalties to lift the trophy.

This year’s Charity Shield was fundraising for Libby Mae’s Little Angels and in total, the afternoon raised £195.
