Swans back on track with midweek win

FAIRFIELD Villa roared to their first three points of the season with a 3-0 win over Hampton in Midlands Football League Division Two on Tuesday night.

David Delaney, Daniel Ludlow and Reece Timmons all found the net in the Swans first league game of the season at the Recreation Ground, providing the perfect tonic to Saturday’s 4-0 drubbing by Coton Green in the opener.

Making debuts for the club were Rickael Manning, Dan Lawrence, Ryan Gittings and Matthew Compton-Brown, with the latter trio given a chance to impress after standing out for the reserves.

Fairfield immediately looked more inspired compared to their previous outing, with much more conviction in their play and determination to take the game to their opponents.

And so their endeavour was rewarded, when Delaney struck just two minutes into the game to give the hosts the perfect start.

Fairfield midfielder Ludlow powered a header onto the bar approaching the half-hour mark, but did not allow himself to be denied on 33 minutes when sweeping a left-footed effort from 25-yards out.

Hampton custodian Matt Allely pulled off a miraculous save to deny Delaney from making it three before half time, heroics which he kept up in the second period to keep his side in the game.

A stunning cross from Dan Lawrence set up a simple finish for Timmons to sign off the victory with a third, putting Fairfield in good spirits ahead of Saturday’s (3pm) home game against Lane Head.
