STUDLEY Lions staged a remarkable come back before winning on penalties to book their place in the third round of the Worcestershire FA Junior Cup.

After finding themselves 3-0 down with just ten minutes to go against Worcester League Division One outfit Virgin Athletic, goals from Jamie Hatfield, Marc Jovanovic and Stewart Roland sent the tie to penalties.

And Lions completed the turnaround with a 4-3 shoot-out victory.

The other game in the Junior Cup saw in-form Spa Athletic claim a 5-1 victory over Perrywood AFC Reserves thanks to goals from Harry Birchall (2), Luke Rainbow, Kev Owens and Steve Williams – his first for the club.

Millfield Rovers crashed out of the Worcestershire FA Premier Cup as they were defeated 5-0 by runaway Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination leaders Austin Ex Apprentices.

However, there was joy for Northfield Athletic as they edged past Worcester Saints 5-4 to move into round three.

Josh Moore, Reiss Brians, Michael Teji and an own goal contributed to Athletic’s total before 48-year-old manager Chris Bench scored the winner.

Elsewhere, Bromsgrove Corinthians eased in the third round of the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup with a 9-1 victory at Droitwich Spa Eagle Reserves.

Alex Beck and Tom Mason bagged hat-tricks in the win. Ed Tear (2) and Andrew Billingham also netted.

Black Horse booked their place in the second round of the Birmingham FA Premier Cup with a 7-1 win at Khalsa Leamington Spa while Bartley Green Illey Sunday enjoyed a 6-2 win at Belbroughton Athletic in the Bromsgrove & District League’s WA Harris Cup.

Connor Collins (2), Myles Newman, Colin Tandy, Alex Dugmore and Carl Martin netted for BGIS; Chris Innes and Ricky Cowdell for Athletic.

Rubery claimed a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Pilkington Sunday following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes in the Premier Cup preliminary round.

Jack Berry was on target for Rubery; Jack McGinn for Pilkington.

The one game in the Division One Cup saw Wychbold RBL beat Chaddesley Corbett 3-1 on penalties after 90 minutes of football saw the sides deadlocked at 2-2.
