Spa Athletic reach first-ever cup final after almost a decade of trying

SPA Athletic reached their first-ever cup final after nearly ten years of trying with a 2-1 victory over Awkies Allstars in the semi-final of the Bromsgrove and District League Bridgwater Cup.

Perry Reynolds and Matt Winsper netted the winning goals for Spa who were reduced to ten men after the former was sent off for two yellow cards.

Black Horse came away as winners of the Worcestershire FA Sunday Premier Cup after beating Kidderminster League outfit Grange Athletic 5-1 in the final.

Dan Carter (2), Brad Birch, Dale Edwards and Joe Adams were on target for Horse at Stourport Swifts’ Walshes Meadow.




Two goals from Brogan Halpin and one apiece for Mitchell Mansfield, Ryan Slevin and Paddy Behan fired Rubery to a 5-1 victory over Red Lion in the final of the Division One Cup held at Bromsgrove Sporting’s Victoria Ground.

Meadow Park are through to the semi-finals of the Kidderminster Hospital Junior Cup following their 2-0 victory over Areley Kings while Studley Lions crashed out in the last four of the Kidderminster Hospital Minor Cup with a 4-1 penalty shoot-out defeat to Phoenix.


The score was locked at 2-2 after extra-time with Jamie Hatfield and Steven Dipple netting for Lions.

In the sole Bromsgrove League Premier Division clash, goals from Connor Collins, Michael Teji and Carlos Martin guided Bartley Green Illey Sunday to a 3-0 victory over Pilkington Sunday.

Ben Markall bagged a brace as FC Highgate United beat Chaddesley Corbett 2-1 in Division One, Rory Milbourne bagged both goals in Oak Tree Sporting’s 2-1 win over FC Hop Pole while Bromsgrove Athletico edged past Wychbold RBL 3-2.

Tom Trow-Poole, Sam Wright and Jamie Banks netted for Athletico.

Division Two leaders Sporting Club Redditch extended their lead at the top to four points with a 4-3 victory over Hizza United.

Damien Cartwright, Jay Gifford, Harry Bedford and Danny Janes got on the scoresheet for Redditch.

The other game in the division saw Winyates run out 5-3 winners over Redditch United Sunday.

Division Three leaders Stoke Works saw off Rubery Legends 3-1 courtesy of Jon Snell’s brace and strike from Mike Hewitt.

Jake Exley (4) and Nick Baker (3) were on target in Bromsgrove Academicals’ 7-1 win at Stoke Prior while Reece Miles bagged all four of Arrow Valley’s goals in a 4-2 victory over Bromsgrove Corinthians.

James Ward also netted a quadruple as Millfield Rovers Reserves edged past Cofton Old Boys 4-3.

Elsewhere, Meadow Park Youth and FC Bromsgrove drew 1-1.
