School claim place in national hockey finals despite defeat

DISCIPLINED performances from Bromsgrove School under-16s have earned them a place in the National Indoor Hockey Finals next month.

Bromsgrove competed at the Midlands Indoor Hockey Finals, winning their group comfortably to set-up a tough semi-final against Worksop College – with the winner claiming a place in the nationals regardless of the result in the final.

Spurred on by the prize on the line, Bromsgrove were resolute and edged their opponents 3-1 to advance to the final against Repton School.

Despite tasting defeat, the prospect of national glory at Whitgrift School on the weekend of January 11-12th provides a tantalising prospect for Bromsgrove’s current crop.

Under-16s coach James Terry applauded the achievement, and said: “I’m extremely proud of the boys who executed everything was asked of them to qualify for another national final.

“It’s an incredible achievement to qualify and this is down to the boys’ hard work and dedication over the years.”
