Rogers bags four as Winyates get off the mark in Bridgwater Cup

FOUR GOALS from Ben Rogers guided Winyates to their first three points in Group B of the Bromsgrove & District League Bridgwater Cup with a 7-1 victory over Millfield Rovers Reserves

Adam Dale also bagged a hat-trick for the home side while Ady Godwin netted a consolation for Rovers.

Dominic Strevens was the hero for Callowbrook Swifts Green as his hat-trick guided the visitors to a 4-2 victory at Bromsgrove Academicals in Group A.

Luke Wyatt also netted for Green while Martin Bonnar and James Hylton got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot for Academicals.




Also in Group A, Hewell made it two wins out of two following their 9-1 victory over Laburnum.

Meanwhile, Jason Gibbons recorded a hat-trick for Awkies Allstars who defeated Bromsgrove Corinthians 6-1 in Group D.


Chris Fox (2) and Alex Wesley also got on the scoresheet for Allstars.

FC Highgate United picked up their first three points in Group A of the Bromsgrove & Redditch Standard Shield  following their 4-2 victory over Pilkington Sunday.

Grant Jones and Adam Pearshouse netted for Pilkington.

Two goals from Matt Perry and one from Ryan Moore helped Chaddesley Corbett secure a 3-1 victory over Sporting Rednal in Group B while Wychbold RBL and Meadow Park drew 2-2 in Group C.

Elsewhere, Bromsgrove Athletico got the better of Millfield Rovers in Group D with a narrow 4-3 victory.

Black Horse progressed to first round of the WA Harris Cup with an emphatic 10-2 victory over Rubery Legends.

Seven goals from Sean Brain guided Horse to victory while Luke Parker and Jacob Booton replied for Legends.

Last year’s Harris Cup champions Northfield Athletic began their defence with a 7-1 victory at Redditch United Sunday thanks to goals from Jason Cowley (3), Josh Moore (2), Reece Ward and Jon Myrie.

Sporting Club Redditch will meet Northfield Athletic in the next round after defeating FC Hope Pole 7-1.

The in-form Dan Sill bagged another hat-trick for Redditch as Ryan Field (2) and Joe Shaw (2) completed their scoring.

Arrow Valley needed penalties to book their place in the second round of the WA Harris Cup as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke Works before prevailing 4-1 in the shoot-out.

Garry Harvey scored for Valley; Curtis Smith for Works.

Meanwhile, Belbroughton Athletic enjoyed an 8-1 victory over FC Bromsgrove.

Nathan Poole netted for Bromsgrove.

In the Premier Division, Thomas Brothers edged past league leaders Alcester Town 3-2 thanks to a Stuart Hall brace and strike from Robbie Bunn.

Bartley Green Illey Sunday recorded back-to-back league wins after cruising to a 5-1 victory over Rubery Athletic courtesy of a Connor Collins brace and efforts from Dan Lawrence, Myles Newman and Carl Martin.

The sole Division One game saw Red Lion and Rubery FC share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Sean Donovan and Mitchell Mansfield had fired Rubery into a 2-0 lead before Dan Bearcroft and Jordan Street pulled Lion level.

Division Two leaders Studley Lions made it four wins out of four following their 3-1 victory over AFC Northfield.

Nick Briggs, Chris Hands and debutant Lewis Smith netted for Lions; Ashan Thomas for Northfield.

Meanwhile, two goals from Tom Harris helped Spa Athletic edge Hizza United 2-1.

In Division Three, Cofton Old Boys picked up their first win of the new season after beating Meadow Park 3-0 courtesy of a Steve Joynes treble.

Elsewhere, Chaddesley Corbett Reserves secured a 5-0 win at Stoke Prior with the goals coming from Forde Mackenzie (2), Craig Sabel (2) and Phillip Bower.
