QUINTON Athletic heaped further misery on rock-bottom Bartley Reds Sunday by strolling to a 6-2 thrashing in the Bromsgrove & District Premier Division.

In the only league game played in the four divisions, Matthew Carter’s double set the tone for Athletic’s six-goal show, with Anthony Fletcher, Anton Gardner-Bennett, Tom Lowe and Jack O’Donnell completing the rout.

Quinton have moved two places from second-bottom to sixth, albeit having played the most games in the division (12), while Bartley Reds remain without a point this term after their 100% losing record was extended with a seventh defeat.

Broughsons made a confident start to the group stages of the Presidents Cup with a 5-2 defeat of West Heath Allstars.

The Division One title challengers, who have won 13 of their 15 matches in all competitions this season, got the better of the Division Two leaders in an enthralling battle in Group B.

With the half-time scoreline poised finely at 1-1, West Heath took the lead before suffering a second-half collapse as Broughsons ensured a fine start to the competition.

Bromsgrove Corinthians have had their hopes of success in the Worcestershire FA Sunday Premier Cup ended at the quarter-final stage after a 4-2 defeat to Redditch Borough.

Premier Division Bromsgrove were on target through Daniel Preston and James Ward, although their efforts were not enough to see Corinthians progress against a Lee Birch inspired Borough.

The semi-finals of the WFA Sunday Junior Cup will not feature Meadow Park after their elimination by New Dales.

Division One Park were no match for the hosts, who ply their trade in the Worcester & District League, bowing out after previously eliminating Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers and FC United of Worcester to reach this stage.

Cofton Old Boys suffered heartache in the semi-finals of the WFA Sunday Minor Cup after going down 2-1 at Worcester & District side Gruppo Select.

Rory Milbourne was the sole scorer for the Division Three visitors, putting the Old Boys in front before the Worcester hosts hit Catalin Copilusi and Marcel Grigore to advance.
