No complaints from Fairfield Villa after defeat to Northfield Town

FAIRFIELD Villa had no complaints with their 5-0 defeat at Midland League Division Two title-hopefuls Northfield Town.

The Recreation Ground side’s troubles on the road continued as Andy Nicol (3), Jake Wicketts and substitute Anthony Fletcher got on the scoresheet in a comfortable win for third-placed Town.

Fairfield vice-chairman Paul Oakes believed Northfield were the best side they have faced this season and thinks they have what it takes to finish top of the pile.

“I hope they go on to win the league now as they’re the most complete and well-organised side we have faced,” he said.

“Our away day frailties showed once again but goals either side of half-time put Northfield out of sight.

“Northfield have a very talented group of players and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you’ve been beaten by the better team.

“They worked hard for each other and were very clinical so we can have no complaints.”

Fairfield are out of action now until Saturday, November 22 when they entertain Lane Head.

The players will be having their Christmas party on Saturday before returning to training on Tuesday.
