NEW Ravens enjoy Nottingham trip despite league game postponement

Bromsgrove Editorial 22nd Jun, 2017   0

NEW Ravens may have seen Saturday’s scheduled Midlands Division One encounter at Sherwood Wolf Hunt postponed, but it did not stop the club’s U9s, 11s and 15s visiting Nottingham for a series of fixtures on Sunday.

Low playing numbers and ground issues left the seniors inactive, but the Ravens’ young guns took centre stage.

The U15s faced a great challenge, not only playing three teams but also battling the glaring heat.

The team travelled in good numbers and enjoyed notable success.

After some wise words from coach Jason Spafford, Ravens U15s won their first match 5-2 against Nottingham.

Then came old foes Telford who proved too strong for Ravens as they won an entertaining game 6-2.

However, Ravens bounced back to defeat Sherwood Wolf Hunt 6-3 in their final game.

All Ravens juniors are away to Coventry on Sunday, followed by their own home camping festival on July 1/2 when there will be activities and training from Super League team St Helens.

The seniors visit Birmingham Bulldogs on Saturday.

Anyone interested in joining the club should call director of rugby Jason Spafford on 07957 248464 or visit www.newravensrl.co.uk.
