New bowling green for Stoke Prior Crown Green Bowling Club takes shape

STOKE Prior Crown Green Bowling Club are in great anticipation for the months ahead as their new bowling green begins to take shape.

The club’s new residence at Stoke Prior Country Club is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019 bowls season in April, with work progressing well at their new residence.

It caps a whirlwind 12 months for the Bowling Club, who were told that their existing green at The Bowling Green Inn would have to be vacated after the culmination of the 2018 season, putting the club into a state of turmoil and with the future in doubt.

Fortunately, the Club’s committee of owner Wilf Goddard and manager Mark Goddard worked tirelessly to create a new space for the club to play, with trees having to be removed, a new area cleared, rotavated, scarified and finally top-dressed with soil, then fertilised and seeded whilst work continued at the site.

With the new green set to be completed in the near future, Stoke Prior now invite new members willing to play Crown Green bowls to get in touch with club secretary Bob Hale by email at [email protected], or by mobile on 07896771256.
