BROMSGROVE racer Jake Clark moved up to 13th in the Hel Performance Motostar British standard class Championship standings after a positive result at Thruxton.

Riding the Moto3 Honda NSF for the first time at the Hampshire circuit, Clark made significant progress during the two practice sessions, dropping his time by almost three seconds on Friday.

At lunchtime the riders were out on the circuit for a 25-minute qualifying session.

After ten minutes the rain began to fall in the first two sectors and all the riders headed to the pits.

With eight minutes of remaining, the shower passed and everyone got back onto the track to improve their time.

Clark made the most of the final few minutes, cutting his time to one minute 25.458 seconds to qualify in eighth.

In his first race on Saturday, Clark dropped a place and fell even further behind after some turmoil.

However, as the race settled down, he enjoyed a frugal spell of overtaking before finishing in eighth.

The feature race on Sunday was trimmed from 14 to 11 laps after several rain delays throughout the day.

Clark made a solid start and was again battling further up the grid.

He managed to secure six more points to add to the eight from Saturday’s race after finishing tenth.

“That was my first time at that track and it was very fast and bumpy,” said Clark.

“It was really exciting in both races because I was battling hard with two or three other riders.

“I’d like to thank Rob Cameron 151s, Wiz, Shoei, Furgan, TCX, Capelli and Chris Clark Plant Services all of whom keep me racing.”
