MEADOW Park under-14s ended a long and hard season with a deserved 1-0 victory over Newtown Sports to clinch the Worcestershire FA County Youth Development League Cup.

The boys from Bromsgrove controlled the opening exchanges and took the lead with a wonder strike from Terrel Jeffers but their resolve was tested throughout the remainder of the game.

After a mammoth season, Park’s squad of 15 was carrying no fewer than six injured players so when midfield maestro Harri Gerner was forced to leave the field after 18 minutes with a sprained ankle, things did not look good.

Despite the odds, Park dug deep and showed tremendous spirit to stifle Newtown’s attacks and lift the trophy for the second year running.

Park are looking for new players to add to an already talented squad which finished in the top half of the Central Warwickshire Youth League Premier Division.

Boys in Year 9 who think they have what it takes can contact Phil Green on 07934 440249 or email [email protected] to arrange a trial.

Park’s under-18s also enjoyed a successful as they lost only one game on their way to clinching the Division One championship in the Central Warwickshire Youth League.

The team is filled with players who have been with the club for 11 years since the conceptions of Bromsgrove Town and Lickey End.

The squad also reached the final of the Worcestershire County Cup, losing to West Hagley under-18s at Stourport Swift’s Walshes Meadow.

Park’s under-18s will be competing next season in the Bromsgrove District League and are looking to replace a number of players who will be leaving the team for university.

Anyone interested in playing for the under-18s should contact Ken on 07836 515923.
