IT was a weekend to savour for Lickey End Social as they edged past Chaddesley Pensioners 3-2 to lift the Bromsgrove League Rose Bowl.

Stuart Cox had given Lickey the lead after four minutes at the Victoria Ground, home of Bromsgrove Sporting, before Nathan Steward pulled Pensioners level just after the hour mark.

Adam Ward nosed Lickey back in front and the game looked over when Sam Horton nodded home to make it 3-1.

Alan Parkinson blasted home from the penalty spot with three minutes to go to get Pensioners back into the final but it was too little too late as Lickey held on to claim silverware in front of a 174-strong crowd.

Studley Lions booked their place in the final of the Centenary Cup with an emphatic 10-1 victory at Bromsgrove Corinthians, thanks to goals from Marco Jovanovic (40, Nick Briggs (2), Chris Hands, Ben Ellicott, Gio Fiumfreddo an an own-goal.

They will meet Winyates in the final who thrashed Awkies Allstars 6-0 in the other semi-final tie.

Rubery United secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Bromsgrove & Redditch Standard Shield following their 4-2 victory over Avenue FC.

Division Two leaders Rubery Sunday Juniors crashed to a 6-1 defeat at Chaddesley Ravens while Hizza United’s poor run continued after slumping to a 5-3 home defeat to Spa Athletic.

Matt Winsper (2), Kyle Foxall, Chris Rich and Chevvie Phillips were on target for Athletic.
