Kingfishers finish with a flourish

STAND-IN skipper Adam Gailey was highly impressed with Redditch Entaco’s performance after the Kingfishers ended their Worcestershire League Cup campaign with a comprehensive victory against bottom side Belbroughton at Hackmans Gate.

Belbroughton struggled against the pace and accuracy of the Redditch seamers and in particular Tom Phelan who produced career-best figures of 7-21 as the home side were bowled out for just 133 in 38.5 overs.

Opening batsman Geoff Day (35) and 29 not out from captain Stu Hawk were the main contributors for the home side.

Young pace bowler Ghulam Moyhuddin continued his impressive form with the ball with another two wickets.

Redditch wasted no time in reaching their target in less than 12 overs as openers Olly Mason and Adeel Sajid made 70 together.

Sajid (68no) continued his excellent form with the bat as the Kingfishers cruised home by eight wickets.

The 2nds went down by 73 runs in their final fixture against a strong Barnt Green side.

Batting first, Barnt Green took control as Harrison Moncrieffe (89), Milan Dogra (61), Hayden Froggatt (40) and Fergus Roll (35) dominated the innings.

The visitors finished on 268-6 off their 40 overs, with Haleem Basharat taking 3-38 for the Kingfishers.

In reply Redditch needed a good start but lost early wickets and were always up against the rate.

Captain Luke Davis continued his fine form with the bat by scoring 73 but nobody was able to give him solid support as the Kingfishers were bowled out for 195, with Ben Dunn doing the damage with 5-33.
