BROMSGROVE Sporting manager Brendan Kelly has assembled a strong squad for the 2020/21 season despite losing Richard Gregory, Shaq McDonald and Greg Mills to rival West Midlands teams.

Coming in is highly-rated right-back Josh Ezewele who joins from fellow Southern League Premier Central side Stourbridge. Previous to the Glassboys, Ezewele played for Alvechurch.

Also arriving at the Victoria Ground is Dublin-born striker Jamie Gray who joins from his home city club Tolka Rovers pending international clearance from the FA.

The 22-year-old left midfielder/striker has League experience having risen though the ranks of the academy at Stevenage.

Chris Lait will be known to Sporting fans having played against the Rouslers last season for rivals Tamworth.

The highly-rated player previously played for AFC Telford United and Solihull Moors and can operate on both left and right. This was Kelly’s third attempt to sign the striker.

The final new signing is Harry Higginson who now joins the Bromsgrove outfit on a permanent deal after three loan moves from Kidderminster Harriers over the last couple of seasons.

As well as his commanding performances as a centre-back, fans will remember his two goals scored with bullet headers from corners.

Nathan Hayward’s return from Stourbridge was confirmed a couple of weeks ago, whilst prolific striker Mikey Taylor has signed on the dotted line for another season. Tom Taylor was confirmed as the club captain last week.

Along with Hayward and the two Taylors, the following players have had their services retained for 2020/21: Max Beardmore, Nathan Binner, Leon Broadhurst, Sam Collins, Charlie Dowd, Jake Marsden, Tom Massey, Gift Mussa, Daniel Platt, Josh Quaynor, Will Shorrock, Liam Spink, Kieren Westwood and Jack Wilson.

After releasing the names on the squad list, Kelly said: “I am really pleased with the players who have signed up for the new campaign.

“I think we have a great squad who can complete with the best. All we need now is for the season to start as we are raring to go.”
