INSIDE VIEW - Richard Gregory's Bromsgrove Sporting Pre-Biggleswade Town Column

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on the eve of the new season.

PRE-SEASON is finally over, and step three football now awaits us.

First of all, I’d like to say thanks for all of the support that we have received throughout pre-season.

The new lads have settled in very well, and we all have come together as a group and can’t wait to get going.

Our squad is looking very strong, unfortunately there are going to be some disappointments when the squad is announced.

But all of the players know that it’s all part of football – pre-season is there for the players to really show what they are about and get their names onto that team sheet.

The season that we are heading into will be in no way similar to the past two seasons, step three will be very different, we will have no easy games as there are some very strong sides with very good players amongst them.

Having said that, we have a good dressing room here, all staff and the players are very good friends on and off the pitch, and it’s a given that we come together as one when playing for this club.

100% effort will be given from myself and the players, the team always comes first, so any opposition we do come up against will certainly be in for a game with us.

After that, we have ability throughout the team that will hopefully win us games this season.

It will be a good test for us all, we will have ups and downs I’m sure, but our aim is to make sure that there are more ups than downs, and that we bounce back whenever we do have a bad day at the office.

Finally, the recent rise in this club’s history is down to the support we get, so I ask you ahead of this season to keep coming in your numbers – home and away – as you really are our 12th man.

A big crowd tomorrow against Biggleswade in our first-ever match at step three would be great, but a win to top it off would be even better, so I hope to see you all tomorrow.

Thanks,

Gregs
