Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on the Rouslers dramatic semi-final win over Sutton Coldfield Town.
WELL we got there in the end!
After a great start and with us comfortably being 2-0 ahead at half-time, I think many of us thought the job was done.
It was a very poor start to the second-half, which found us get punished and put ourselves in a situation that we just didn’t need to be in.
Having said that, the lads again showed great character and I honestly believe that overall, we deserved to win the tie.
It should have been a more comfortable route to the final, but football doesn’t always work out like that.
In a play-off semi final, the most important thing is that you win and you get through to the final by any means.
I feel that our performance needs to be better against Corby on Monday, but the lads are back in training Saturday and we’ll be preparing for one final push.
We have nothing to lose. It’s been a good season and it all boils down to this one game now.
We are all very excited by reaching the final and we’re looking forward to the challenge – Corby are a good side and I’m sure many will feel that this is the final that everyone wanted to see.
The support was amazing again, as it has been all season.
I hope every one of you can rally together just one more time, and that the whole town can get behind us at the Victoria Ground, to raise the roof and get behind the lads.
I’ll see you all on Monday, up the Rouslers!
