Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on Saturday’s victory in Lowestoft and the midweek draw with Rushall Olympic.
I HOPE everyone’s week has been happier than previous weeks after we picked up four points from our last two games.
On Saturday, we had the long trip to the east coast where we played Lowestoft, it was a great result for us and a real solid performance.
I thought the back five were excellent and we defended well as a unit, we always looked a threat going forward.
I was pleased to come off the bench and score the winner, which made the long journey home a lot better.
We faced a Rushall side who have started the season very well on Tuesday, so we knew we had to be right on top of our game if we were to take anything from it.
I thought the performance was probably our best this season – we were unlucky to not take all 3 points.
It was a great game to play in, the tempo was very quick and we created a lot of openings, on another day I think we would have won comfortably.
If we are looking dangerous and creating chances, then the goals and results will follow.
For me, it would be worrying if we weren’t creating chances, but that’s not the case – especially in the last two games.
We are looking more solid now, Tony Breeden coming in has really helped us out.
He is the best keeper about for me and he will get the best out of his back four, who are still getting to know each other’s games properly, so there are positive signs going forward.
We have no game this weekend which is a shame, with our momentum we probably could have done with playing again, but I hope everyone enjoys their weekend off and we will see you all a week on Saturday for the Needham Market game.
