Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on last weekend’s thrashing of Thame United, and looks ahead to a trip to Yaxley on Saturday.
From a personal point of view it was disappointing to be left out of the team on Saturday.
Show me a player that is happy being on the bench or out of the squad and I’ll show you a player who doesn’t care enough.
I’m never going to be one of those players, so it’s only natural to feel this way. Thankfully and I must stress most importantly, the boys came away with 3 points.
It was a good result and performance from us against a very different Thame side to the one we encountered down at their place earlier in the season.
5-0 certainly didn’t flatter us as getting a goal early on allowed us to relax into the game.
Thame never really got going and it was a comfortable win, which also contained some excellent team goals and individual performances.
This Saturday we travel to Yaxley, another team who I feel are better than their league position. We narrowly beat them at home earlier in the season so we must expect another tough game.
I’d like to finish this week by wishing my best to the outgoing players. To Macca who departs after a short and sweet spell at the Vic. And also to all the boys who are going out on loan.
Hopefully you’ll all be back soon, full of minutes and confidence ready to contribute during our run in.
Up the Rouslers.
