Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column and reflects on Saturday’s 1-0 win at Sporting Khalsa and Tuesday’s 6-0 win over Loughborough University.
WHAT a prime of example of the contrasting weeks in football.
This time last week we were reeling from a bad defeat and people were questioning our promotion potential, among other things.
This week we sit back top of the league with a game in hand.
It’s a funny old game isn’t it?
The reaction to last week has been fantastic and one that shows the true character in our dressing room and beyond.
Saturday was always going to be difficult against a promotion contender, especially on a tricky surface.
But everybody rolled their sleeves up and grit it out, deserving our hard fought 1-0 victory which set us up lovely for Tuesday.
It was great to see Gregs (Richard Gregory) back doing what he does best, scoring goals.
A 6-0 home victory against a decent Loughborough team was a result matched by some of the football that was played in attacking areas.
Two wins and two clean sheets on the bounce sets us up nicely for a big weekend of fixtures.
I’d like to take the chance to congratulate and welcome Aaron Roberts to the 200 club as well as thanking the seen and unseen volunteers in and around the club that work so hard.
It really is appreciated.
I said last week that one game/week of football doesn’t define a season and this week’s won’t either.
But it does show that we have an abundance of character and resilience inside our dressing room.
