INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Editorial 14th Dec, 2018   0

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on the victory over Peterborough Sports and the defeat to Worcester City.

SATURDAY against Peterborough Sports was a great occasion, especially for the fans who turned out in their numbers.

It was a roller-coaster of a game with some fantastic goals between the top-two teams in the league, capped off with a stunning team goal to win it.

At 3-3 I said there was another goal in the game and at times it looked like Peterborough’s second-half pressure would pay off.

But credit to the boys who dug in and came out with a mammoth three points.

Tuesday night was the flip side of the coin as a disjointed first-half display against Worcester left us with too much to do.

We gave the ball away too easily and failed to defend the next phase which resulted in us going in three-down at half-time.

We were rightly read the riot act in the dressing room and I feel we reacted positively, but fair play to Worcester who got bodies in the way regularly enough to progress into the next round.

Saturday is an away day where we look to continue our good form in the league.

Any away game in this league is tough but hopefully we can come back to Bromsgrove with three points and a clean sheet.

I’d just like to finish off this week by wishing the departing Craig Gibbons all the best in his new venture.

His coverage of us has been a key part of putting Bromsgrove Sporting on the map.

Good luck to my fellow ‘yam yam!’
