INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on the victory over Yaxley and today’s (Saturday) trip to North Leigh.

ON SATURDAY we proved as much to ourselves as to anyone else there is massive character in our dressing room.

Obviously, that had been questioned following our last two league results and rightly so.

But on the back of those games, to go a goal behind early on, then play the final 30 minutes with a man less and still get three points is testament to the character, heart and backbone in the squad.

Going a goal down so early on wasn’t the start we wanted but we reacted well.

Other than the goal and a header which hit the post in the second half, Yaxley didn’t really threaten our goal.

That’s down to the hours we spend on the training ground with the coaching staff working on our shape.

We fully deserved the win to get us back on the league wagon.

I certainly felt like we owed the gaffer a performance and result like that after the previous results, on top of what he’s been going through, so that win was for Bren.

This Saturday we are back on the road as we travel to North Leigh.

Another team we don’t know too much about so it’s important we prepare diligently and ensure everything is in place for us to perform to our best.

If we do that, matched with our terrific away supporters who continue to back us superbly, then we have a great chance of returning with the three points.
