In-form Fairfield Villa in for 'different challenge' against new look Earlswood

CONFIDENT Fairfield Villa will be looking for their sixth win on the bounce in all competitions this weekend when they entertain Earlswood Town in Midland League Division Two.

Since the 4-2 home defeat to Barnt Green Spartak, the Recreation Ground side has enjoyed an upturn in fortunes and have gone from battling to avoid the drop to vying for a top-six place in the league.

Their latest success came on Saturday with a 2-0 victory at Bloxwich Town, thanks to goals from Connor Collins and Dan Wilkes.

Eighth-placed Fairfield have 13 league games left to achieve a top-six finish and they will be looking for all three points on Saturday against an Earlswood side which held them to a 0-0 draw on the opening day of the season back in August.

“It was fair to say we battered them at there place but come up against an inspired goalkeeper,” said vice-chairman Paul Oakes.

“Given the chances we had we should have walked away with the three points.

“But they have changed since then and made a number of excellent additions so we are going to be in for a different test.

“However, we go into the game full of confidence and I can’t see any reason why we cannot pick up another three points this weekend.”

Only Ryan Molesworth (neck) is missing leaving manager Wayne Davis with another strong squad to select from.
