Horton continues to scale the heights

THE SKY appears to be the limit for talented Barnt Green ski racer Siena Horton as she will start the 2015/16 season ranked number one in Great Britain.

Horton completed a stunning year on the slopes by securing top spot in the Overall U14 Girl’s section at the British National Championships in France last week.

Her success at the event, which has previously been won by Olympian Chemmy Allcott, comes after a number of impressive performances in recent months.

Having trained and raced in Colorado, America with Ski Club Vail over Christmas and New Year, she returned to take overall second place at the English Championships in Bormio in February.

The Bromsgrove School pupil then went on to win the u14 Overall Cup at the British Inter-schools in Chamonix in March.

Horton has had to spend a lot of time away from home as she works with the Ambition Race team in Austria, but she insisted she still had the appetite to compete at the top of her game.

“It’s been a fantastic season,” she said. “I love the technical aspect of the slalom, but the Super G is the most exciting. I reach speeds of more than 50mph, so it is pretty nerve racking too.

“I am now at home, staying fit with lots of other sports and will head off to Italy for glacier training over the summer.”
