Hawthorns hit the spot to secure place in Worcestershire FA Junior Cup semi-finals

HAWTHORNS are the only Bromsgrove League representative left in any national or county cup after they made the semi-finals of the Worcestershire FA Junior Cup.

Taking on fellow BDFL side Wychbold RBL, the two sides were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes, with Jimmy Ward and Kyle Morrison netting for Hawthorns.

Hawthorns then prevailed 5-4 in the shoot-out to secure a place in the last four.

Highgate Dynamos bowed out of the Birmingham FA Premier Cup at the quarter-final stage after being edged out 3-2 at Penn Tandori Sunday.




Reece James and Jack Wilson netted for Dynamos.

There was also disappointment for Bromsgrove Academicals in the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup semi-finals as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Cropthorne.


It was a good day for Meadow Park in the outside cups as the first team beat FC Malvern 5-2 to reach the final of the Worcestershire Nursing Junior Cup while the ‘Youth’ team secured a last-four spot in the Bromsgrove Charity Minor Cup after downing Cofton Old Boys 1-0.

Lickey End Social will play Chaddesley Pensioners in the final of the BDFL Rose Bowl following their 3-2 victory over Crown Athletic.

Avenue booked their place in the semi-finals of the Division One Cup with a 3-1 penalty shoot-out win over AFC Northfield after the two sides were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes.

Connor Deards and Richard Dugmore were on target for Northfield while Robert Thompson-Brown netted both of Avenue’s goals.

Andy Nicol struck five times as Austin Ex Apprentices eased into the next round of the WA Harris Cup with an emphatic 11-1 demolition of Royal Eagles.

Reece Francis, James Douglas, and Craig Spink each bagged a brace in the big win.

BGIS Fairfield also progressed after downing Bromsgrove Corinthians 5-0, thanks to goals from Carl Martin (3), Alex Dugmore and Connor Collins.

In the Presidents Cup, AFC Norton cruised to a 6-2 victory at Bromsgrove Raiders in Group A while Catshill defeated Redditch Borough Sunday 4-2 in Group B.

Stuart Green (2), Kit Wozniak and Joe Brookes were on target for Catshill.
