Fisher's first ever goal in 17 years guides Stoke Works to cup win

DAVID FISHER’s first and only ever goal in an incredible 17 years guided Stoke Works to a 4-2 victory over fellow Bromsgrove & District League members Cofton Old Boys in the first round of the Worcester Nursing Minor Cup.

Fisher, who is just a few weeks away from moving to Australia to start a new life, netted a penalty in the victory for Works which also saw Tom Westwood, Jon Snell and Ryan Cooper get on the scoresheet.

Bromsgrove Corinthians progressed into round two after beating Pershore Town Eagles 4-1 after extra-time.

Braces from Tom Mason and Josh Mitchell secured the win for the visitors.




Spa Athletic edged past Meadow Park Youth 3-2 thanks to goals from Phil Burton, Perry Reynolds and Karl Stokes while Winyates enjoyed a 4-1 victory over Rubery Legends.

Ben Rogers (2), Rob Thomas and Thomas Williams netted for Winyates; Jake Booton for Legends.


Hizza United claimed a 4-0 victory over Millfield Rovers Reserves while two goals from Adam Thornton helped Sporting Club Redditch on their way to a 3-1 win at Awkies Allstars.

Stoke Prior crashed out following an 8-0 defeat to Malvern Rangers while VBL Sports and Studley Lions saw their game abandoned due to a serious player injury. Lions were winning 4-3 at the time.

Bartley Green Illey Sunday booked their place in the second round of the Worcester Nursing Junior Cup after beating Chaddesley Corbett 7-0.

Connor Collins bagged a hat-trick while Dan Lawrence (2), Alex Dugmore and Adam Blackford completed the scoring.

Millfield Rovers are also through to round two as goals from Oliver O’Connell, Josh Whyte and Russell Morgan secured a 3-1 win at Hallow Village.

Four goals from Brad Talbot ensured Wychbold RBL kept up their unbeaten run in Group D of the ‘Bromsgrove and Redditch Standard Shield’.

Despite FC Hop Pole taking the lead through Chris Smith, Talbot’s quadruple ensured the home side extended their undefeated run to four games.

Pilkington Sunday got off the mark in Group A as two goals from Oliver Smith and one from Callum McCall secured a 3-0 win.

Black Horse eased to a 5-0 victory over Rubery in Group B while Alcester Town won by a similar scoreline over Thomas Brothers in Group C thanks to goals from Ellis Kalach (2), Matt Layton (2) and Lewis Marston.

The other game in Group C saw Red Lion enjoy an 8-1 victory at Oak Tree Sporting with Dan Bearcroft (3) and Kingsley Smith (2) amongst the goals.
