Cowley returns to Bromsgrove Sporting on dual registration

STAR striker Jason Cowley has returned to Bromsgrove Sporting on a dual registration from AFC Telford United.

The National League North outfit signed the Rouslers’ all-time leading goalscorer in the summer following a number of successful training sessions.

However, due to the Bucks’ positive start to the new campaign, the suspended Cowley understood he would not be getting game time straight away.

Telford boss Gavin Cowan does not want to lose the 22-year-old forward so a dual registration deal has been struck with Sporting so Cowley can maintain his match fitness.

Cowley is unavailable for Sporting’s Southern League Division One Central opener at AFC Dunstable on Saturday because he has one more game of his five-match suspension to serve.

However, he will be available for selection for the home game against Kidlington on Tuesday.

Sporting boss Brendan Kelly told the Standard: “Jason was the missing piece of the jigsaw.

“He was so instrumental for us last season and the season before so it’s great to have him back at the club.

“He has learned a lot under Gavin, things like the more technical side of the game and what it takes to perform at National League North level.

“Gavin is expecting Jason to go back to Telford and smash it at that level because that’s where he wants to be.”
