Cofton Hackett powerlifter geared up for World Championships

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Sep, 2018   0

COFTON Hackett powerlifter Jules Davis is getting prepared for the GPC World Championships in Hungary later this month.

Davis will be aiming to secure her third world title in Eger to follow her victories in Serbia in 2016 and the Czech Republic in 2017.

She will be one of 800 lifters from 31 countries competing in the championships held from September 16 to September 23.

“Training has been going really well,” she said.

“I feel strong and ready for the championships so I just want to get there and lift.

“I’ve broken or equalled three world records in the gym in my preparation for this competition so the pressure is on to do it again on the platform where it really matters.

“Doing these weights in the gym gives me confidence going into a competition, but it’s a different experience entirely on the actual day and the gym weights don’t mean anything.

“I’m aiming for a 400kg total.

“In my last competition I got 387.5kg.

“I know it’s a big jump but I really think I have a chance if I hit the weights on the day that I know I have worked so hard to lift in the gym.”
