Callowbrook Swifts Green cruise to 7-0 Bridgwater Cup victory

CALLOWBROOK Swifts Green cruised to a comfortable 7-0 victory over Laburnum in the opening group stages of the Bromsgrove & District League’s Bridgwater Cup.

A hat-trick from new signing Dominic Strevens, two from Luke Wyatt and one each from Ryan Craig and Reece Kindon ensured Green sit atop the Group A table.

Studley Lions cemented their position at the top of Group B after coming out on top in an eight-goal thriller at Arrow Valley 5-3.

Marc Jovanovic (2), Nick Briggs, Jamie Hatfield and Stephen Dipple got on the scoresheet for Lions; Rob Voice, Darryl King and Matthew Remes for Valley.




Sporting Club Redditch lead the way in Group C following their 5-3 victory over Redditch United Sunday thanks to braces from Malique Williams and Adam Thornton and strike from Dan Sill.

Connor Chipman netted twice for Redditch with Ryan Khan completing their scoring.


Chaddesley Corbett Reserves sit in second on goal difference as they overcame Cofton Old Boys 4-2 courtesy of a Craig Sabel brace and singles from Philip Bower and Anthony Ward.

An own-goal and Darren Conway contributed to Old Boys’ tally.

Meanwhile, Hizza United top Group D as they ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at Rubery Legends with goals from Ashley Parker (2), Aaron Clayton and Harry Nicholls.

In the Bromsgrove and Redditch Standard Shield, Belbroughton Athletic moved to the summit of Group A following their 3-0 victory over FC Highgate United.

Northfield Athletic lead the way in Group B after running out 6-3 winners at Sporting Rednal while Red Lion sit atop the Group C table following their comprehensive 6-2 victory over Alcester Town.

Hewell booked their place in the first round of the prestigious WA Harris Cup after they edged past Rubery FC 8-5.

Sean Donovan (2), Brogan Halpin, Lewis McPike and Dan Wells got on the scoresheet for Rubery.

Rubery Athletic will be Hewell’s opponents in the next round as they eased to a 5-0 victory at Bromsgrove Corinthians with the help of a Andy Court hat-trick and a goal each from Adam Pillinger and Reiss O’Connor.

Elsewhere, Bartley Green Illey Sunday progressed into the second round following their more than comfortable 8-1 victory over Quinton Athletic.

Goals from Dan Lawrence (3), Connor Collins (2), Marcus George (2) and Dan Taylor secured the win for Bartley Green while Matthew Carter netted a consolation for the visitors.

The other cup game of the day saw Premier Division leaders Black Horse edge past Millifeld Rovers courtesy of an 89th-minute own goal to book their place in the second round of the Premier Cup where they will entertain Meadow Park.

In the sole Premier Division fixture of the weekend, Meadow Park moved up to third in the table after narrowly beating Thomas Brothers 3-2.

Chaddesley Corbett maintained their 100 per cent start in Division One following their 2-1 victory at Bromsgrove Athletico.

Sam Wright had given Athletico the lead before Matt Perry and Ryan Moore turned the game on its head to give Chaddesley all three points and their third league win on the spin.

Winyates also boast a 100 per cent record in Division Two as they picked up their third win of the season after defeating Spa Athletic 5-2.

Ivaylo Karov (2), Rob Stewart, Adam Dale and Dave Phelan netted for Winyates.

Meanwhile, AFC Northfield picked up a 2-1 victory at Awkies Allstars thanks to goals from Chris McGrath and new signing Lee Williams.

Jason Gibbons pulled one back for Allstars.

Stoke Works made it two wins out of two in Division Three after cruising to a 3-1 victory over Bromsgrove Academicals.

Two goals from Ryan Cooper and one from Paul Halfpenny secured the victory while Nick Baker got on the scoresheet for Academicals.

Finally, a brace from Will Rowland secured a 2-1 victory for FC Bromsgrove over Meadow Park Youth.
