BROMSGROVE’s under-10s boys’ and girl’s teams punched above their weight at the Midlands In2Hockey Finals.

Having progressed from the Worcestershire County In2Hockey Under-10s tournament, both teams travelled to Rugby full of confidence despite never having played in the competition before.

The under-10 boys’ team consisting of George Brindley, Toby Ward, Josh Bevins, Jacob Taylor, Theo Reeves, Brin Cushen, Joe Boyd, Matt Bevins and Andreas Mylona finished fifth out of 16 teams.

That meant Bromsgrove missed out by one place on qualifying for the National finals held at Nottingham Hockey Centre.

Coach Scott Reeves said: “The boys were amazing and showed what a talented group of under-10s we have at the club.”

Meanwhile, the girls’ team of Georgiana Howdle, Imogen Bridge, Holly Potter, Isla Chattin, Freya Stanton-Spek, Kate Pardoe, Gracie Oliver, Sophia Jones, Scarlet Preston and Natasha Lindsay finished 12th out of 16 teams.

Coach Andy Potter said: “The girls were in a really tough group but they have learnt so much that they will take into the under-12s competition next year.”
