Bromsgrove's Jake Clark continues impressive form at Brands Hatch

BROMSGROVE racer Jake Clark picked up more valuable Hel Performance Motostar British standard class Moto3 Championship points at Brands Hatch over the weekend.

Clark had never driven round the Kent track and used his free practice on Friday to get to know the circuit.

His first day ended well as he reduced his lap time by 1.5 seconds by the end of the second practice session.

Clark then got qualifying underway on Saturday morning and started the 30-minute session on the wet tyres following an overnight downpour.

The 14-year-old did well in the mixed conditions, qualifying 13th for race one.

After Saturday afternoon’s race was put back to Sunday morning, Clark and his team-mates at Wilson Racing were invited up to the BSB Radio Studio where he enjoyed being interviewed about his racing career.

In the 14-lap feature race, Clark made a solid start and managed to cross the finish line in 13th place, picking up three championship points in the process.

For the second race Clark started the ten-lap sprint at the back of the grid but he was determined to continue improving his performance and finishing every race he has started in the Moto3 class.

Clark went on to finish race two in ninth as well as setting his fastest lap of the weekend in one minute, 42.321 seconds.

“It was a tough weekend,” said Clark. “I didn’t find it easy to get to grips with the circuit at first but I’m so happy to have finished another two races in Moto3.

“It’s all a learning experience at the moment and to come away with another ten points was magic.”

Clark will now move on to the fast and twisty Thruxton circuit in Hampshire from Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6.
