JORDAN JONES has become Bromsgrove Sporting’s first summer signing after making the switch from Redditch United.
The 24-year-old attacking right winger, who can also play as a right-back, is Paul Smith’s first new addition prior to the Rouslers’ inaugural campaign in the Midland League Premier Division.
And Sporting boss Smith told the Standard he was delighted to bring in the former Kidderminster Harriers man.
“He fits perfectly into the mould of players who have been at a higher level,” he said.
“Jordan is a local and hungry lad and I cannot wait to get started with him.
“He is very highly thought of and those that know non-league football will think ‘wow, how did they get him?’.”
Smith also revealed another new signing will be made over the weekend and will be put straight on to contract.
In other news, former boss of the now defunct Pilkington XXX Steve McGinn has joined the management team at the Victoria Ground.
McGinn played a vital role in the Rouslers’ FA Vase run, going down to scout Cleethorpes Town, Bristol Manor Farm, Buckland Athletic and Sun Sports.
His attention to detail was described as ‘out of this world’ by Smith who was delighted McGinn accepted his offer to join the management set-up.
“Steve will be out there next season scouting players and every team we will be coming up against,” Smith added.
“Twice a month he will watch us to produce reports on where he thinks we are as a club.
“I’m a young manager so to have Steve behind me and give some fresh opinions is something I’m over the moon with.”
Brendan Kelly remains as assistant manager while Andy Mason stays on as coach.
