BROMSGROVE School student Natalie Hatfield picked up three gold medals with Team GB at the Biathle and Triathle European Championships in Germany.

Hatfield qualified for Team GB earlier in the year after successful events in Cheltenham (biathle) and Dorset (triathle).

Biathle is a continues run/swim/run event while triathle is a continuous shooting/run/swim event repeated four times.

Both events come under the umbrella of Penthathlon GB.

On Saturday, Hatfield competed in the traithle event and after the shooting was faced with working extra hard to make her way from the back of the pack.

She managed to do exactly that to come home in a respectable sixth place, helping Team GB to a gold medal.

Then on Sunday the 14-year-old took part in the biathle.

For the individual event, Hatfield was lying in second place going into the swim where she pulled out all the stops to take first place.

She then led the second run all the way, constantly extending her lead to take gold and be crowned under-17 European champion.

Team GB also managed to claim gold in the team event, increasing Hatfield’s medal tally to three for the weekend.
