BROMSGROVE Mixed C maintained their promotion push in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Division Four East with victory over David Lloyd Bromsgrove C.
The opening round saw Di Inchley with Trevor Errington fight out a tough three-set match against Chris Chambers with Lynne Russell.
Despite some strong play from Chambers, Bromsgrove were equal to the task and managed to claim the win on a tie break in the third set.
John and Linda Casey had a more comfortable two-set win against Dennis Murray with Debbie Sallom.
The reverse matches saw Inchley and Errington cruise to a 6-3, 6-0 win but the Casey duo went down to Chambers and Russell.
The 3-1 win puts Bromsgrove in thirdplace and a victory in their final match guarantees promotion.
The Men’s A put up a strong fight against Stourbridge in Division Two despite only having two regulars at their disposal.
Adam Dudek with Roy Halfpenny won both rubbers.
Steve Jones with Phil Boardman stepping up from the B team won and lost a rubber, but Jim Round with Aaron Oakes went down in both their encounters.
With the score at 3-3, Stourbridge took the win bonus points as they won one more set.
Meanwhile, it was not a good week for the Men’s F and G teams in Division Nine East.
Promotion for the F team looks unlikely after their defeat to Kempsey A while a heavily depleted G team went down to Worcester G.
