BROMSGROVE Men’s D moved to the summit of Division Eight East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League with a 4-0 victory over Cutnall Green C.
Tom Round with Trevor Errington started slowly, losing their first set 6-4 against Neil Woodward and David Stanley.
However, junior player Round turned on the power in the next sets as they won 6-2, 6-3 to seal a convincing win.
Against Richard Cotterill and Brett Holyman, a tough battle saw the Bromsgrove pair take the first set 6-4, go down 6-4 in the next before winning a tense third set 7-6 on the tie break.
Charlie Tait with junior Cameron Owen had a long tight rubber against Cotterill and Holyman but came through 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 in a match of high quality which kept the spectators engaged until the final point.
Tait and Owen started well against Woodward and Stanley, winning 6-1 but a lapse in concentration saw them drop the second set 6-3 before coming back strongly to win 6-2 in the final set.
The newly-promoted Ladies F team opened their Division Nine East campaign with a narrow victory over Pershore D.
Clare Hancock with Di Horton had two tough battles, winning the third set 6-1 in the first rubber but went down 6-4 in the final of the second.
Meanwhile, Sue Corfield with Bella Bracknall lost their opener in three sets before their second was conceded.
With the score locked at two rubbers each, Bromsgrove claimed victory on sets won (6-5).
Elsewhere, the Men’s G team went down 3-1 to David Lloyd Dudley D in Division 11 East.
Mel McGregor with Alan Colley took the only rubber for Bromsgrove with a good two-set win but the luck wasn’t with Craig Horton and Martin German who went down in both their rubbers.
