BROMSGROVE Men’s B continued their unbeaten start to the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League Division Three campaign with a 6-0 victory over Leominster A to secure maximum points.

The opening round saw Steve Jones and Ollie Simper come through a marathon two hour battle to claim victory in three sets while it was more straightforward for the pairs of Ash Rutter with Phil Boardman and Matt Smith with Jeth Tomlinson who cruised to straight set victories.

The second round saw all three Bromsgrove pairs sweep to victory for a great win which lifted them to the top of the table.

The Men’s C team claimed a 4-2 victory over Boughton Park B to move up to second in Division Five East.

Boughton fielded a strong first pair who won both their rubbers but their second and third pairing were no match for Bromsgrove and were well beaten.

The Men’s D team thumped Stourbridge E 5-1 to move up to second in Division Six East while the Men’s E team are up to third in Division Eight East following their 4-2 victory over David Lloyd Dudley.

Bromsgrove Ladies A consolidated second place in Division One with a good 5-1 victory away at Ross-on-Wye A.

Captain Sally Franks called up three ‘B’ team players to complete the squad and they showed fighting spirit to come away with the win.

A 5-1 victory over Wall Heath B saw the Ladies C team move up to second in Division Five East and they now sit just four points off league leaders Inkberrow with a game in hand.

Elsewhere, the Ladies E team secured a 4-2 victory over rivals Droitwich D in Division Seven East. The first pair of Yvonne Priestman with Avril Pugh led the way with two victories as Cynthia Colley with Claire Andrews and Di Horton with Fay Giles battled hard to get a win each to give Bromsgrove the win.
