Bromsgrove Men's B enjoy derby success

Bromsgrove Editorial 10th Jun, 2016 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016

BROMSGROVE Men’s B team made it two wins out of two in local derby matches in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire League.

The Men’s B swept aside David Lloyd Bromsgrove B 4-2 in Division Three to follow the D team, who won by last week.

Matt Smith with Jeth Tomlinson won both their rubbers to set up the victory as the pairings of Ollie Stratford with Steve Jones and Ash Rutter with Phil Boardman won one each.

It was not such good news for a depleted C team as they went down by the same score to David Lloyd Dudley A in Division Five.

With Chris Hands and Mel McGregor stepping up a team, it was a tough match. John Casey with Tim Wright and Voitek Niedzwiedz with Tim Roland each won a rubber to put some points on the board for Bromsgrove.

The newly-formed Men’s F team took their first victory in their second match in Division Nine.

Juniors Jim Round and Stuart Shannon won both rubbers playing at first pair with some great play. Mark Wilson with Charlie Tait picked up the other win for Bromsgrove to secure the bonus win points.

The Mixed D team stormed to a 4-0 win over Bewdley D in Division Five, with Lorraine Russel with Chris Hands and Paul Douglas with Sue Forrest in dominant form.

The Ladies D also had a great win, 4-2 against local rivals Droitwich D in Division Seven.

Ros Cooke with Lesley Hodgson won both their contests and Jane Corbett with Carol Cornellisen and Sarah Davies with Catherine Maund each had a hard-fought win to consolidate their place at the top of the table.
