BROMSGROVE’S Men’s A team continued their fine start to the new Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League Division Two season with a 4-0 victory over Ross-on-Wye A.
The victory was made easier as Ross only fielded one pair due to late injury.
Adam Dudek with Steve Halfpenny (6-2, 6-3) and Ollie Stratford with Joe Harte (6-0, 7-5) wrapped the match up comfortably against the visitors.
The second maximum point win in two matches puts Bromsgrove top of the table.
Not to be outdone, the Ladies B claimed maximum points from their match against David Lloyd Worcester A to claim top spot in Division Three.
Hannah Weston with Kelly Kenward won both their contests 6-4, 6-4 and 7-5, 6-2 respectively while Joan McGregor with Sophie Cornelious fought back to win in three sets after losing the first set in their opening rubber.
They followed this up with a more comfortable 6-0, 6-4 win in the second game.
The Ladies E sit top of the Division Five East table after a great 4-0 victory over Boughton Park without even dropping a set.
Steph Armstrong with Lisa Rushton and Connie Wedelich with Marie Hackett mastered the difficult windy and low sun conditions to complete some straightforward victories, only dropping ten games over the eight sets.
The Mixed D team won their opening Division Six East against a depleted Bewdley.
A late withdrawal meant that the visitors only had one pair.
Chris Hands and Alison Douglas had a battle before winning in the third set after losing the opening set.
Pete Morris with Jane Corbett had a comfortable two-set win to take maximum points for the team.
The Ladies G lost 3-1 to Halesowen C in Division Ten East.
Annabel Whitmore with new player Clare Nesbit won the single rubber as Bromsgrove lost the others in close three-set battles on a disappointing day.
Elsewhere, it was a day to forget for the Men’s F team who went down 4-0 to David Lloyd Dudley C in Division 11 East.
