BARNT Green’s under-13s won the Worcestershire County Cup in style against a strong Worcester outfit.
The final was held at Feckenham CC where Green won the toss and had no hesitation in putting their opponents into bat.
An inspired spell of bowling from pace bowlers Ben Whitton and Jack Warner meant they took five wickets apiece, including a hat-trick from Warner to bowl Worcester out for just 21.
Green’s opening batsmen then guided their team home in the seventh over to clinch the cup for the second successive time.
U13s manager Charlie Hanson said: “After a close semi-final with Bromsgrove, we knew we’d have to be at our best against a strong Worcester side.
“However, all the lads have played good cricket to get here and our bowlers stepped up on the big day.
“The majority of the boys also won the previous year’s under 13 competition which is a remarkable achievement.”
Barnt Green now wait to find out their Warwickshire opponents in the next round of the ECB National competition.
