BARNT Green reached the third round of the ECB National Club Championship on Sunday after beating Walsall by nine wickets.

Walsall finished on 165-9, with Adam Hines taking 2-20.

Harrison Moncrieffe (74) and Rheedyi Amin (51) then struck a 108-run partnership to see the Green home in the 27th over.

Barnt Green, though, are still searching for a first win in Birmingham & District Premier Division One after a 158-run defeat to Berkswell the previous day.




Chasing a 251 target after Tom Lewis hit a century, the hosts could only manage 92, with Edward Pollock’s 33 the only score of note.

Barnt Green visit second-placed Dorridge on Saturday (12 noon).



CHADDESLEY Corbett suffered their first defeat of the 2019 Worcestershire County League Premier Division season, losing to Stourbridge by six wickets.

Visitors Stourbridge won the toss and put Chaddesley Corbett into bat, with the hosts slipping to 33-9 before Tahseel Ahmadzai (37) rallied the score to 75. Dan Wale took 5-33, and Daniel Such 4-30.

Stourbridge only needed 28 overs to reach their target, although Waqas Ahmed took 3-23.

Chaddesley Corbett seconds meanwhile made a miraculous comeback from 27-6 to reach 167 runs and eventually win by 17 runs against Colwall in Division Five.

No 7 batsman Usman Ahmed (69) took his side from the brink, before Arslan Mehmood (4-22) helped dismiss Colwall for 150.

Chaddesley Corbett’s first XI hope to return to winning ways at Astwood Bank, while the second string host Lye on Saturday (both 1pm).
