WORK has started on installing a new outdoor gym in Sanders Park, writes Demi Andrews.
The 13-station ‘Kompan’ fitness area will include a cross-trainer, push up bars, a cycle trainer and many other new pieces of equipment including a hand bike and magnetic bell weights.
Residents backed the idea at the park’s 50th anniversary celebrations back in September and it is now set to be installed near the skate park.
The work is being carried out by contractors for Bromsgrove District Council which has funded the equipment.
Coun Peter Whittaker, the authority’s portfolio holder for services said: “People have been asking us about having outdoor gym equipment in Sanders Park and we’re delighted to provide it.
“You can even get an app for your phone to help track your progress.”
The work is expected to take around two weeks but should not disrupt any existing park facilities.
