Worcestershire Trading Standards issues warning over Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals

Bromsgrove Editorial 26th Nov, 2020   0

BLACK Friday and Cyber Monday are well known for being the best days to snap up bargains.

But people need to be wary of deals that seem too good to be true; as they often are.

Worcestershire Trading Standards is reminding shoppers to stay safe and to protect your purchases.

Coun Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member for communities, said: “More people are shopping online from their living room this year.

“It’s really important shoppers know how to keep themselves cyber safe and understand their rights as a consumer if things don’t go to plan.”

Top tips include shopping at trustworthy online traders, using secure payment methods to buy items and never transferring money into a stranger’s account.

Customers should also always research prices to prevent themselves being ripped off and keep receipts for proof of purchase.

Using a credit card for purchases over £100 will also give people extra consumer protection.
