WINTERFOLD School in Chaddesley Corbett has been recognised for donating £24,577 to a charity which provides new books for children in hospital.

The cash, contributed to ‘Read for Good’ between 1998 and now, offers the youngsters the chance to escape from their treatment.

The money has been raised through readathons.

The school’s head of English Sarah Miles said: “It is great to see that our pupils’ hard work has been recognised.

“Reading for pleasure also benefits our children, from improving attainment and wellbeing, to promoting citizenship, character, resilience and empathy.

“We will be completing our next Readathon during February.”
